Part II ...of "The Antler Man"

(My fifteen yr. old had to do homework on the computer)...sorry for the delay. Well, I did go inside and meet the family that had just moved in next door. They all were polite and theyseemed so nice and they had lots of kids. So we let our kids get together to play in the mornings. I met the husband (He kinda looked like Neil Diamond to me...the singer). I slowly got to know them over the summer, and even took them to church one Sunday. I had seen them walking down Main Street and noticed that only the wife drove for their family. Sometimes the car would act up and they'd be stuck walking all over.

One Saturday, I was out in the back-yard with my kids. I noticed the husband digging in the back yard with a shovel. His wife came outside and saw me with my kids. She walked over and mentioned that her husband liked to go nature walking (for days) and collect bones. He would take some of them to sell in town to the pawnshop. The rest of the bones...he would save in the backyard.

One night, Hubby and I were watching Fried Green Tomatoes on the VCR. It was hot inside, so we had the front door open and the screen door letting the cool air blow in. We could hear the next door neighbors dog barking in their house. It was starting to get dark, so I stood up to close the front door. When I looked outside, I could see the little kids from next door...running down their porch screaming!

I opened the door and let them in...then their mom followed behind them. Hubbyand I were confused and asked what was going on? The kids were crying and the mom had her hair pulled out and her clothes were a mess! They all were crying and scared, and the next thing I knew...the husband/dad came running towards our porch!! My husband had grabbed the rod in the closet (that held the coats) and went out to defend our home. He literally stepped between this guy and our front porch. He yelled to me to lock the front door and call 911.

I closed the door and grabbed the phone. Then I took everyone downstairs to hide till the police arrived. Luckily, my kids were asleep upstairs and didn't notice the commotion. I was able to distract the kids while the mom told the dispatcher how she had survived the whole ordeal. We waited for Hubby and the police to knock on the door...

The wife told the police that her husband had been watching Terminator...when all of the sudden he started acting it all out. He started with the family dog! After throwing the dog around the room...he went after his wife and kids. He tore the room apart and then grabbed his wife by the hair. She stopped telling her story-when she realized my eyes were popping out :)

I looked outside the window upstairs and heard the police knocking at our door. My husband brought them inside to see the kids and help their mother. He told me that he had stopped the husband from coming into our yard, but when the police arrived the guy ran up the dead-end street to a ally-way. From there, he ran through the neighborhood and up into the mountain-side. The cops couldn't catch him and let him go for the night. The wife and kids stayed with us for the first night. But the next day, we were told to leave the street for our own protection. I took the wife and kids to a shelter and my husband and I stayed at my mom's house.

Late that next night, our neighbors called us and mentioned that the cops had patrolled the area over night. During one of their drive-by checks, they stopped at the guys house. The people across the street had seen someone opening and closing the side storage shed. So, the police went over to see if anyone was there. Nothing was found.

The next morning, the police checked again on the storage shed. It seemed locked so they walked around the yard. Then they grabbed the doorknob and pulled hard! The husband came running out with antlers on his head!! He tried to defend himself from being hand-cuffed, but with no luck. He finally had been captured...after three days on the run.

What happened to this character after-wards? He was taken to a prison up north. I heard they had him mentally evaluated, and he is under continual psychiatric care. But we always wonder-what if this guy gets out? Who's door will he be knocking at next?...

Holy Antler Man, that is insane! That is a perfect story for Halloween time. I was on the edge of my computer chair wondering what was going to happen next. I honestly thought it was going to be some "gotcha" joke at the end. Also, makes me wonder what kind of bones he kept in his backyard after being gone for days....sounds serial killerish to me. Was this in Cedar?!

I am totally waiting for the punchline Dolly. Tell me this isn't so please now before I put on some antlers and run into a pole. I don't want to end up in the same place as he is. This is driving me nuts that someone could be that weird and be next door. And I thought I was the original crazy lady. I got nothing on him.

WOWO that is crazy. It is funny Andy's dad works for the state of Idaho as a psychologist and he always has some great stories like that to tell the last one we heard was the guy lost like 90K in the stock market a few weeks ago and started walking he walked like 20 miles thinking it was the end and the lord was going to strike him down with lightning. So after 20 miles and nothing he stole a car and went on a wild drive. They finally caught him and put him in the crazy hospital...
Yours is a crazy story...
Good thing nothing happened to you and your family.

I am SO glad you are all okay. I would have stayed FAR AWAY from him, because, well....you sort of had me at "collecting bones"......er.

Anyantler, I like the photos and music as I read this story, and I was patiently waiting until the end where you tell us this is all one big fake Halloween story. Yikes!

This is so wacky!!! But I believe it because we have our own horror story that happened with my across the street neighbor. They were fixing up their house and sold it...moved a few miles away and a week later I see this news story about a woman who was beaten to death by her husband with a HAMMER. IT was my neighbors that just moved. I had news anchors come to the house to interview me asking if they were normal or whatever. It was especially freaky because this MAD MAN seemed totally normal and talked with us and hubby often. It's so bizarre and frightening.
