Family Togetherness

A man in Jacksonville calls his son in San Diego two days before
Thanksgiving and says, 'I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you
that your mother and I are divorcing. Forty-five years of misery is
enough."'Pop, what are you talking about?' the son screams.
"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer,' the father says.
'We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you
call your sister in Denver and tell her.'

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. 'Like heck
they're getting divorced,' she shouts, 'I'll take care of this!!'
She calls Jacksonville immediately, and screams at her father, 'You are
NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm
calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then,
don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?' and hangs up.
The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. 'Okay, Honey,' he
says, 'they're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way!

Classic! I wonder how happy of a thanksgiving they had once the kids figured out they had been tricked. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. I am thinking of you and praying for you. M

I hope I don't have to stoop that low to get my kids to visit, but I probably will.

I love this story. I never had much appreciation for it, though, until my sister and I moved away from our hometown. She is a 6 hour drive away, and I'm a 24 hour drive away. And I'm fairly sure my Dad would pull a stunt like this just to get us all home on the same weekend or Holiday.

HA! We actually love going home for holidays, but, that's because of all the free food and spoiling we get from our parents. I'm sure it'll be harder to get us 1,200 miles once we have kids.
