Building Up the Kingdom

Today was so fun in Sunday School class-I teach the 12 yr. olds. Our lesson was on Building Up Zion. I first told them the story of Ammon-the armslayer, from the BOM. One of the boys (Mitchell) was so sure he knew the story...he took over in the middle of my words.

I happily let him explain how King Lamoni was so impressed with Ammon, that he finally let him teach him the gospel. Mitchell had such emotion and understanding of this missionary work-I was so touched with his testimony. It was like he knew Ammon and the King personally.

We talked about being pure in heart, and the ways to accomplish this goal. The girls made a long list on the chalk board,* Church attendence (which has HUGE meaning to me now that I have a son of Alma), Reading scriptures, prayer, Following the prophets, Keeping the Word of Wisdom, and tons of other great answers. I felt such happiness being with these valiant pre-teens. I thought of how they are Saturdays Warriors-ready to go out and build up the kingdom. They have true and faithful families to guide them. What a huge blessing in this upside-down world.

Here is one my favorite scriptures from Alma 19: 36 And thus the work of the Lord did commence among the Lamanites; thus the Lord did begin to pour out his aSpirit upon them; and we see that his arm is extended to ball people who will repent and believe on his name.

I add my testimony also, that the gospel is true and I have full faith in our Heavenly Father's love for us. We will return to be with Him, if we are pure in heart.

Sweet post Dolly. I am always amazed by the youth in my ward. They are so much farther along than I was at that age. Yes, they are truly Saturday's Warriors.
