Our New Driver-January 9th, 2009

Yesterday, my 15 yr. old (we'll call him "Nascar")...got his Learner's Permit for driving! Yahoo:) I picked him up from high-school and then picked up his siblings. We all drove over to the DMV and I took pictures of this momentous moment in time. He was nervous but so excited! There must of been another dozen families there doing the very same thing, because this place got crowded real fast. All the moms were pacing the floors and the dads kept track of the time. Little kids were taking turns measuring themselves at the height-stick by the door.

I remember going with our eldest-who's on a mission now. At the time he was 6' 4''...now he's almost 6' 7". People do stare when he walks into the room. Casanova is now 6' 2" and our little Nascar is 5' 9". His sister is about to pass him up at 5' 5" (She's only eleven too!). Measuring height is a BIG deal in our house :)

Well, today I let Nascar back out of the driveway and drive over to his buddie's house. We were all laughing with sheer terror, but he did fine (a little too fast-but he'll get the hang of it!). When he climbed out of the car, he said, "I can't wait till you come to get me!". I can...just kidding!♥

yeah...Well at least you have someone else to go and get the other kids now...(I guess you already had you 19 yr old) I really need Abby to be WAY older. Then I could never have to leave home!

Yay! It is so refreshing to here about fellow trees! I'm 5'11" and my hubby is 6'5" so I think our kids will be monsters!

Going to highschool being this tall is tough so I have one rule for your son....he cannot date anyone shorter than 5'9" sorry, that's just the way it is! lol

Anyway congrats on having another driver and good luck!

First of all--I had no idea your boys are soooo tall??!!

wow! I don't have tall boys. Well my one son (14 yrs old) just caught up with my hubby at like 5'9 but hubby's not tall and my son's friends are all wayyyy taller than he is. Then I have one that is two heads shorter than all his friends.

Oh and good luck. My 2nd driver has another year before he can get his permit! But I bet he'll be responsible and I wont' worry as much as I do with my daughter. Or not. I'm not sure. lol

How do you do it? I could barely stand driving with Skater Boy. Who would tell me he knew what to do already. We have driver #2 coming up this year! She has the book and is getting ready for the test.
